Welcome to the TEC Website!
TEC was formed in 1992 to improve coordination between the U.S.
Department of Energy (DOE) and external groups interested in the
Department's transportation activities. TEC is co-chaired by DOE's
Office of Civilian Radioactive Waste Management and the Office of
Environmental Management. For more information on the background
and history of this organization, please see the TEC Charter.
TEC membership
includes representatives from national, state, tribal and local
government organizations, labor, industry and professional groups.
Members meet semiannually to participate in plenary sessions, breakout
work sessions, and in more specialized
Topic Groups.

Dear TEC Members and
Friends,
Based on the feedback received during the most
recent meeting in San Antonio, Texas, the Department
of Energy (DOE) is proposing to implement a number
of changes to the organization and operations of
TEC. A comprehensive summary of these
recommendations, DOE’s responses and proposed
actions are posted below. The two most significant
of these changes include re-establishing the TEC
Planning Committee and reorganizing the TEC topic
groups and sub-groups.
The TEC website will undergo some restructuring –
primarily to address the topic group reorganization,
but also in response to suggestions received from
stakeholders in San Antonio.
Because of budget constraints, we will not convene
another TEC meeting during this fiscal year, which
ends on September 30th. We are still evaluating the
feasibility of holding a TEC meeting prior to the
end of the calendar year. We will notify members and
interested parties as soon as a decision is made.
